SPAIN: GAËL CASTILLI WINS THE SPANISH CHAPTER OF THE ALPINE ELF CUP!

The amazing race occurring at Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya brought Gaël Castilli atop of the competition where he scored enough points to secure the lead from his rivals, succeeding Pierre Sancinéna as the Alpine ELF Europa Cup title winner!

Gaël Castelli (winner race 1, Alpine Elf Europa Cup leader)
“The title was my goal this year. Right from the beginning I have felt good with the CMR team and we strove to do things well while avoiding mistakes. We have always been strong performance-wise and this allowed us to score consistently, although we have taken it to a new level since Silverstone with excellent set-ups and a perfect understanding of the tyres both in qualifying and in the races. All came together to allow me to take my fourth career title, the first on the European scene! I am really delighted, especially since it's always something special to win with a legendary brand such as Alpine. I am also happy to win in this relatively new category, but where the cars are reliable and fast. Thanks to this title, I can thank the team for all the work it has done and my partners for their confidence in me. I am already in talks for next year, but among GT4 in France, Europe or returning to defend my crown, everything remains open!”

Matéo Herrero (winner race 2, Junior category winner races 1 & 2)
“Since Silverstone, Gaël has been a league of his own. This weekend, we showed that we are not very far behind him, finishing second on Saturday, then winning on Sunday. I have gained a lot of ground in the general classification while also taking the lead in the Junior category. It will all be to play for at Castellet, a circuit that I like a lot and where things went very well for me last year in F4. Even though Jean-Baptiste Méla is still a stout adversary, I am pretty confident and the goal will be to finish second overall and win the Junior title. I know we can do it!”

Rodolphe Wallgren (Gentleman category winner races 1 & 2)
“Saturday was really satisfying. I started sixth and I managed to move up to second place just behind Gaël. I held on to the spot for half of the race before having to cede. It was a shame the safety car intervention was so long in Sunday’s race. I lost a little bit of time in my battle with Mathieu Blaise and would have liked to have caught up to the others, but it was too late. I still enjoyed myself and it has been a long time since I had so much fun in a category where everyone has the same exact car!”
